Our first guests
We had several dates in our head (and hearts) to have all four cabins complete and open for guests, but these dates came and went. We didn’t have an “official” opening date. That is until we took a booking for three of the cabins for a wedding group – including the groom and bride!

This became our concrete deadline. What a terrifying deadline to have. Foxglove cabin (our fourth cabin) was still under construction, but Snowdrop, Primrose and Poppy were built, they just needed all the finishing touches. This included post-construction deep cleaning, furnishing, ironing, ironing and more ironing, installing TVs, building wardrobes, and kitting out the kitchens with cooking and dinning equipment. We also had work to do on the grounds.

To help ensure we met this deadline, we booked a local photographer (Liam Marsh) to take some shots for our website. We asked Liam to come a week before our first booking. So all hands were on deck to ensure the cabins were pristine, ready for their close up and gave good face for Liam to do his work. Apart from a few burnt croissants (cooking for a “lazy breakfast on the veranda” shot) the photo session went well. This also meant we were pretty much ready for our wedding guests the following weekend.

It was such a happy, proud moment to welcome our first guests – as they were starting their new life as a married couple, we had began our new life of Buckland Farm Log Cabins!
